Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We face a watershed moment in the Catholic Church. While the Archdiocese of Chicago began decades ago to implement policies to prevent and address sexual abuse, we must remain vigilant and ensure complete compliance with those policies.

To that end, we have created this page to share the actions the Archdiocese of Chicago has taken to address this issue, as well as our ongoing work to change the culture of clericalism. This page includes detailed information, including resources for victim-survivors, instructions for reporting a sexual abuse allegation, frequently asked questions about our independent review of our policies, procedures and practices, and public statements made by me and other Church leaders.

The Church must establish a higher standard of accountability and chart a fresh path for reconciliation. This is the only way to demonstrate that all who come through our doors are respected and safe, protected by a church that reflects, always and everywhere, God’s own love for his children.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Cardinal Blase J. Cupich
Archbishop of Chicago
